During finals week, the goal is normally to study in the most effective way possible whether it is by yourself or with friends. For my high school biology class, of course my goal was to enhance my study experience by collaborating with friends in a study group. Six of my friends and I all went to my friend, Maya’s house, to study for Biology so we could all do well on the exam. It was a perfect idea. We began studying around 7 pm and everything was going well; we were focused, dedicated, and making our way through the study materials. After studying for a couple of hours, our treat to ourselves was an ice cream break. We headed to Publix and everything was fine. We laughed our way through the grocery store as a brain break and were ready to return to studying when we arrived back home. This moment is when the night took a turn. My best friend, Lauren, approached the door to find that it was locked. Blank stares crossed our faces as we all looked at each other. We were shook. Maya began looking for the spare key, but she noticed that it was not in the power control box where her parents normally put it, so she gave up. The next idea was to climb through her bedroom window, which was located on the second floor. We stacked everything in sight to enter her window including: trashcans, coolers, and ladders to reach the top. However, when we reached the window, it was locked. We walked around the house for hours looking for an open window, because we did not want to bother her parents who were at an event. After searching for two hours, the clock struck midnight, and we did not know what to do next. We sat down, took a deep breath, and tried to figure out our next move. I came up with the idea to check the power box one more time. I looked in the box while everyone else sat defeated on the porch until I shouted, “I found it!” The key was sitting right on the edge of the inside of the box, so we immediately found out that we can not trust Maya to look for anything. LOL. We all entered the house screaming for joy, because we were outside for so long. We did not study biology for the rest of the night, but we made a memory that none of us will ever forget. We definitely learned two lessons: never trust Maya when looking for anything and funny bonding experiences with friends are 10x better than studying for finals. But, we all studied by ourselves over the next few days and did well on the test, because every girl has to have brains to accompany her beauty. So, play hard: have fun with your friends and make many unforgettable memories, but do not forget to work even harder in the classroom so you can be a true BB girl. With love, Your fellow BB girl, Ryann Phillips
