Hi, my name is Rachel Williams from Chicago, IL, and I'm a Senior at Spelman College majoring in Comparative Women's Studies and minoring in Management and Organization. It has been such an honor to be named the 2019 Beauty & Brains Scholarship Recipient and welcomed into such a beautiful family of young women dedicated to empowerment. My time with BB so far has been nothing less than spectacular, and I have met so many women who are the change agents of our generation! I decided to become a BBGirl because as a Black female, I strive to stress the importance of diversity and inclusion, as I have personally experienced and witnessed other people of different abilities, genders, ethnicities, and identities struggle with this same level of exclusion.
Far too often people have written me off or diminished the intellectual value of my statement before I even get a chance to articulate myself... solely based off how they perceive my appearance. But ultimately, my “beauty” goes way deeper than a surface level definition. For me, beauty is about your spirit and heart. Having genuine and empowering motives in everything you do. Even when you’ve been belittled or betrayed, passing any ounce of joy and encouragement to someone else in whatever shape or form you can. I look forward to continuing to represent this organization along with other BBGirls with grace and style, to be a pillar in our communities and campuses to show the great depths and heights Black women can achieve!

My name is Kenechukwu Uwajeh and I am the Publicity Chair for the Beauty and Brains Organization. I hail from the south suburbs of Chicago and am now a second-year student attending the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I spend much of my free time running my own cosmetic business, interning at a private pharmacy, dancing, and volunteering. I decided to join the Beauty and Brains team because I align with the organization’s mission and goals. The organization recognizes the importance of finding a balance between your professional and personal life, and understands the value of giving back to the community that fostered their growth. It is truly an honor to represent such a prestigious and empowering organization like Beauty and Brains. As a BB girl, I hope to leave a positive and lasting impact on as many people as possible!

Hi All! I am Ciara J. Evans, a junior majoring in Film, Screenwriting and Animation with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Hailing from Chicago-the Windy City, I attend THE Illustrious Morgan State University and will be graduating the year of 2022. It is my passion to guide the younger generation to a path towards success. From the moment I discovered Beauty and Brains, I knew it was an organization I needed to take part in. This sisterhood is more than just pink and sparkles. Together we empower, mentor, and uplift younger women of the world. This alone explains why I am honored to be a BBGirl! I am ready and eager to impact the world with my new team of beautiful, intelligent and forward thinking young ladies!

Journalism Team Lead

Hey! I’m Angel Williams, a sophomore Nursing major at Howard University. I grew up in Chicago, Illinois with my uncle and aunt. Growing up, I was always determined to do the best I could academically because I knew it would pay off in the end. I didn’t grow up in the average family household, but I didn’t let that hinder my academic success. I decided to become a BBGirl because I wanted to be apart of an organization that not only supports women and gives back to the community, but I wanted to be apart of a family that supports each other as we go through our phases in life. I am very thankful for this opportunity, and I am very excited to see what the future holds. ✨
